You will report to the Director of Commercial Infrastructure. Work location is a hybrid of working from home and required weekly attendance in office.
The data infrastructure and analysis team owns data, solution, infrastructure and tooling for data-driven decision-making across Waymo. Our scope includes data processing infrastructure and pipelines, and data warehouse empowering reporting and business analysis.
Day-to-day activities and responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers responsible for developing Waymo data & analysis infrastructure that impacts evaluation and training of Waymo Driver.
- Build relationships with teams across Waymo, including product managers, data scientists, and infrastructure engineers.
- Work with partners across Waymo (Simulation, Planner, Behavior, Perception and ML Infra teams) to build joint roadmaps.
- Develop a strategic vision for Waymo data and analysis infrastructure in collaboration with partners.
- Establish clear objectives for the team, aligning individual efforts with the strategic vision.
- Coach engineers on your team, helping them grow their skills.
Required experience:
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience in a people management and team leadership role.
- Experience building data and analytics infrastructure
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems
Preferred experience:
- Background in building data warehouses, databases and query engines.
- Experience working with data scientists and infrastructure teams to solve business problems
- Understanding of data privacy, security, quality, correctness, and efficiency tradeoffs
- Experience driving collaboration across organizational boundaries, building multi-dimensional partner relationships, and importing and exporting ideas to achieve broad organizational goals.
- Understand the complex relationship between our organization and its environment, identify connections, adopt different perspectives, and quickly respond to changing circumstances in a strategic way.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
