The Hardware Engineering team at Waymo is a diverse, innovative, and collaborative group of electrical, mechanical, reliability, software and vehicle engineers. We design, build, and perfect the products which are the eyes and ears of Waymo's autonomous driving technology, and integrate those products into vehicle platforms. We're seeking curious and talented teammates to keep us moving in the right direction.   

In this role, you'll:

  • Be a world-class PCB layout expert in both Allegro and Altium
  • Perform hands-on PCB layout and effectively lead other PCB layout team members on complicated layout projects
  • Continue improving Waymo ECAD/MCAD processes
  • Bring innovative PCB design and manufacturing technologies to Waymo
  • The role may also require leading and managing a small team in future

At a minimum we’d like you to have:

  • Bachelor or Associate degree in EE or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of CAD and PCB design experience in Cadence Allegro and Altium tools
  • Proficient with high-speed and high-power PCB board designs; familiarity with high density Ball-grid Arrays (BGA), PTH, blind and buried vias
  • Familiarity with all phases of hardware development including: schematic entry, component placement, Library management, DRC/constraints manager, board layout, Gerber-out process, etc.
  • Experience with advancing full layout team with new technologies, automation, and processes
  • Experience with excellent engagement with partner teams
  • Experience with guiding other team members on complex projects
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills

It's preferred if you have:

  • A good understanding of signal integrity and power integrity
  • EE system product design experience
  • Overseas project management experience
  • Automotive product design experience
  • Prior team leading and team management experience

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process. 

Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
