About this role

At Waymark, the engineering challenges we face are related to building products and data pipelines that enable care delivery teams (community health workers, social workers, pharmacists, and care coordinators) to support patients facing major health challenges. 

As the first DevOps engineer at Waymark, you will serve as a builder and connector in the ideation and deployment of tools used by community health workers, social workers, pharmacists, and medical assistants to enable comprehensive care for low-income patients. This is a position for a person with passion for social justice and improvement of health outcomes, and who wants to apply their skills in by providing technical guidance and consultation to satisfy infrastructure requirements, evolve our CI/CD release process, and troubleshoot code and deployment issues, working with a diverse group of data scientists and fellow engineers to solve major healthcare problems.

Responsibilities

  • Build, deploy scalable, highly available systems and maintain software features and functions, databases and applications for cloud technologies.
  • Lead the adoption and administration of distributed systems through the principles of IaC using tools such as Terraform & Ansible.
  • Support and monitors the system and identifies system deficiencies.
  • Maintain process documentation, workflow and infrastructure and network architectural diagrams.
  • Help setup platforms such as Sagemaker and data / analytics tools for our Data Science and Analytics teams.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available, fault-tolerant cloud-based systems in AWS
  • Advanced knowledge in containerization technologies, e.g., Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS EC2, ECR, Cloudfront, Route 53, etc.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining cloud-based databases (RDBMS & NoSQL).
  • Experience with logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability tools, e.g., Datadog, Sumo, Sentry, Prometheus, Cloudwatch.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and shell/bash scripting.
  • Experience with DevOps practices including infrastructure as code, continuous integration, automated deployment, automated testing, autoscaling, and self-healing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with healthcare data, privacy, and/or systems
  • Experience with build and release automation and dependency management
  • Experience managing distributed systems which can handle data at scale
  • Early-stage startup experience

Salary Range: $150,000.00 - $212,000.00.  Compensation will depend on multiple factors, including job location, training, education, and experience.

Benefits and Other Compensation: Medical, vision, dental, basic life insurance, and stock options available for the hired applicant.  Employees also receive twenty (20) vacation days, accrued over the year and eleven (11) paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Sixteen (16) weeks of parental leave for birthing parents will also be available for use after successful completion of six (6) months of employment, eight (8) weeks of bonding leave for non-birthing parents.  Employees are able to enroll in our 401(k) plan and commuter benefits plan.
