About Team
As the Conversational AI team we are building completely new capabilities to allow our customers to shop, by seamlessly interacting with their connected devices using spoken and written language. This team is part of the Emerging tech organization and will build new voice experiences both in-house and in collaboration with strategic partners. Voice as a medium for shopping is still in its infancy and as part of this team you will get to work on industry leading solutions and be at the forefront of this emerging platform.
What you will do:
As a Senior Engineer for Walmart, you’ll have the opportunity to
Design, build, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting millions of customers worldwide.
Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentorship to a small group of highly skilled and motivated engineers.
Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome products.
What you will bring:
Minimum qualifications:
BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
5+ years of software engineering experience in developing services in Java/SpringBoot
3+ years of software engineering experience in developing applications using Python
4+ years of experience designing, building large distributed systems for high availability and scale
4+ years of experience of developing services using managed servicing public cloud platforms such as Azure, GCP or AWS
3+ years of experience and fluency with relational / no-sql (e.g., MySQL, Cassandra, etc.) databases
3+ year of experience working with Kafka, ActiveMQ, Caches such as Redis or memcached, Elastic Search, Spark and HDFS
Proven understanding of micro-services-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
Advanced knowledge of performance, scalability, and system architecture with an eye toward avoiding and reducing technical debt
Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies (e.g., XP, scrum, agile)
Experience in working with large code bases and effectively driving large projects
Experience in mentoring engineers and influencing other engineers across the organization
Good problem-solving attitude and analytical skills
Strong communication skills with inclination to high ownership and commitment
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in designing large scale AI/ML products/systems impacting millions of customers
Past experience in strong programming skills across big data and ML engineering stack
