Position: Senior Software Engineer

Duties: Responsible for building and maintaining the Customer Data Lake for Walmart. Participate in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (For example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); writing and developing code. Perform unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs; interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan; and providing leadership to the project team. Work with a small groups of four to six engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by proving pertinent documents, direction, and examples; identifying short- and long-term solutions and timeline; reviewing and providing feedback for proposed solutions; and performing design and code reviews of changes. Build customer data warehouse using Scala and Spark. Ingest the data from the Azure Cosmos DB to the Google cloud storage and big query using Kafka, Spark, UDP and archetype framework. Coordinate with the business and help them in building new data pipelines for analytical and reporting purposes. Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders and identifying business needs. Monitor and optimize the storage and the computation of the Google Cloud dataproc cluster for performance and cost efficiency.

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 5 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment; OR Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 2 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment.

Skills required: Experience designing and developing complex distributed systems using Spark. Experience coding in object-oriented programming language Scala and Python. Experience migrating data from on prem to google cloud using spark, UDP and archetype framework. Experience with CI/CD automation using looper and concord. Experience writing complex SQL queries using sub queries, analytical functions for the creation of reports. Experience with data modelling and data governance principles. Experience understanding large scale infrastructure as platform services from google including Dataproc. Experience with Unix shell scripting. Experience with business process as it relates to experience in the field. Experience with various databases including Teradata, Oracle Hive and Big Query. Experience monitoring and optimizing GCP based systems for performance and cost efficiency. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $161,571/year to $234,000/year.  Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.   Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
