Position Summary...

Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales. Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities. Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

About Team: 
Global Item Restrictions (GIR) team focusses to support the store systems with restrictions on items which ensures that we provide the right people with the right services throughout the world. Our services will be consumed by various markets across many geographies (US, Mexico, UK, Canada, China etc.) We are looking for Senior Software Engineer who have a deep interest and passion for technology and want to build next generation cloud native distributed systems for internet scale . He should be  curious about building highly available, highly resilient systems with single digit latency and want to build them in real where every day you are solving a new challenge and learning new things.


What you'll do:

  • Senior Software Engineer shall play a technical role in building robust applications working with product managers and business stakeholders to deliver outstanding business outcomes for problems across Walmart.
  • Engage with 4iTB model across the globe to drive the agenda, understand priorities and lead towards delivering quality products.
  • Design overall architecture of the web application, collaborate with the rest of the engineering team to design and launch new features.
  • Understanding and implementation of security and data protection, maintain code integrity and organisation.
  • Develop functional databases, applications, and servers to support websites on the back end
  • Ensure that non-functional requirements such as security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability are being considered when architecting solutions.
  • Analyse documentation and technical specifications of any new application under development or consideration to determine its intended functionality.
  • Ensure that testing activities allow applications to meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfil end-user requirements, and identify existing or potential issues
  • Effectively coach junior software engineers to work through ambiguous issues, integrate input from stakeholders across the company
  • Responsible for assessing bugs priority & severity, effectively communicate to stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the monitoring and alert handling of these solutions using advanced applications like Splunk, Dynatrace, Spotlight, Xmatters, Azure AppInsights and Azure monitoring.
  • Resolve production Incidents within SLA – Ability to debug and analyse production issues in detail across systems.
  • Perform Problem management & RCA to proactively reduce production incidents.
  • Responsible for Infrastructure management across Walmart computes and cloud infrastructure.
  • Fix problems, test and deploy to resolve production incidents.
  • Work closely with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
  • Engage with Product Management and Business Teams across the globe to drive the agenda, understand priorities and lead towards delivering quality products.
     

What you'll bring:

  • Experience of minimum 6+ years in Full stack development taking solutions to production.
  • Experience coding in prototype based object-oriented programming language (including JavaScript and Typescript)
  • Experience developing and maintaining web applications using various frameworks and languages (including Springboot, Node.js, Vertx)
  • Experience with Bootstrap, jQuery, and other frameworks
  • Experience working on messaging frameworks like Apache Kafka and Apache Camel.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux, PHP and MySQL, with working understanding of MongoDB, PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with CI/CD processes and design for high scale, availability, testability and extensibility.
  • Experience writing and maintaining unit tests and automated tests for web applications using Jest and Test café
  • Experience implementing best practices and design patterns using Promises, RxJS, Observables, and Redux
  • Experience designing and implementing REST API and/or GraphQL web services using Node.JS
  • Experience working with graphic designers and converting designs to visual elements.
  • Good to have experience working with People/HR systems
  • Knowledge on Micro Services Architecture, Event Driven Architectures
  • Familiarity with Bot development.
  • Good working knowledge with GraphQL based API development.
  • Experience working on projects following an Agile or similar process
  • Knowledge and Experience on POS (Point of Sale) systems is preferrable
