(IND) Senior Manager Software Engineering

Position Summary...

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

What you'll do...

• About Team:

  Big Fast Data Team of Data Platform, which is part of the Global Technology Platform team, is chartered to enable secure consumption of various Private and Public Cloud offerings of the Hadoop ecosystem, including Spark and Airflow, to help with business agility.  The team is responsible for building and enabling Walmart’s modern big data cloud infrastructure, developing platform offerings to enable scalable and efficient analytics over our data, and optimizing Walmart’s big data-related cloud usage. 

  We are seeking senior system engineer interested in working at the intersection of Big Data Platform Development, Hadoop Cluster DevOps and Automation.

  What you will do:

• Build, develop and guide high-performing talent for the Big Data platform team.

• Engage with leadership in SV (Sunnyvale), BV (Bentonville) and In-country centers and set up strategy and priorities for the team and in delivering best services to the customers around the globe.

• Adapt and deliver on the Agile strategy for the team.

• Create a collaborative environment across geography for delivering best services to the customers around the globe

• Handle budget planning, spend and tracking for your area of responsibility.

• Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.

• Provide supervision, mentoring and development opportunities for associates and managers who report into you. 

• What you will bring

• Bachelor's Degree with 12+ years of experience in Computer Science or related field.

• Should have managed a team of Software engineers

• Should have a strong problem solving, logical and analytical thinking, decision-making and excellent communication with interpersonal skills.

• A go-getter attitude who can perform independently in an agile environment.

• Capability in working with various Big Data Frameworks like Spark, Hive, Airflow, Zookeeper etc.

• Basic to Intermediate capability in Hadoop/Big Data operations

• Very strong understanding and experience in the area of software development lifecycle.

• Intermediate to Advanced capability in installing Hadoop clusters, including configuration of Hadoop services (HBase, Impala, Hive, Hue, HDFS), Hadoop command line administration, including use of logs to debug job and systems issues related to Spark, MapReduce, Tez, Hive, Pig, and Apache Ranger

• Ability to monitor Big Data systems, capture new metrics, and build dashboards using Grafana or other alternative tools

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in one of the following language: Java, Python, Ruby, Golang.

• Intermediate to Advanced skills in Linux and bash scripting

• Intermediate to Advanced working knowledge of workflow orchestration Softwares like Oozie, Airflow etc.

• Intermediate to Advanced Devops tech like Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Concord.

• Intermediate to Advanced capability in working with cloud environments like  GCP, Azure, AWS, OCI  etc.

• Basic to Intermediate knowledge of SQL and Databases.

• Technical Skills:
  Core Skills : Big Data – Hadoop, Spark and Hive, Orchestration – Airflow

  Database: Oracle/MYSQL/PostgreSQL

  Cloud Technologies: GCP/Azure/AWS/OCI

  Programming – Python/Java/Shell/Ruby

  CI/CD – Jenkins, Concord

  Configuration/Code Management – Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Git
