What you’ll be doing...


Senior Manager Project and Program Management resource is pivotal in establishing the business support foundation for the NSA project. The Senior Manager will spearhead the orchestration and management of various business project lifecycle components. Their expertise and leadership will lay the groundwork for the project management office, facilitating effective coordination, planning, and execution and are essential for driving the project forward and achieving its ambitious objectives.

The Northstar Architecture (NSA) program embodies Verizon's commitment to modernizing and consolidating three disparate technology stacks into one unified system. This initiative aims to streamline operations, accelerate delivery, and establish a modern foundational set for robust value creation.

  • Milestone Management: Coordinate and track key milestones, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with program goals.

  • Collaborate with Technology Teams: Work closely with technology teams to ensure alignment of project activities with overall program objectives and timelines.

  • Program Leadership: Act as a program leader, providing direction and guidance to the program team to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Business Program Management: Oversee the business program, including bringing together various business units, identifying scope requirements, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Go-to-Market Life Cycle Ownership: Own the go-to-market lifecycle, from planning to execution, to ensure successful product launches and market penetration.

  • Organizational Change Management: Develop and implement strategies for managing organizational change effectively, including stakeholder engagement, training, and support.

  • Communication Management: Lead communication efforts across value units and Verizon units to ensure stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the program lifecycle.

  • Business Continuity Assurance: Ensure business continuity remains intact by proactively identifying and addressing potential disruptions and risks.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders at various levels to gather requirements, address concerns, and maintain alignment with program objectives.

  • Governance and Executive Level Expectation Management: Establish governance structures and processes to ensure effective decision-making and manage executive-level expectations regarding program progress and outcomes.

  • Team Management: Manage a team of business project managers, providing leadership, support, and guidance to drive successful project execution and delivery.

This role is a hybrid schedule in office that includes assigned office days (VCG in office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

What we’re looking for….

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Expertise in Managing Large, Technical Project and Project Management principles with intricate integrations and dependencies.

  • Deep understanding of complex project management principles, strategic planning, and leadership skills necessary for driving large-scale projects to success.

  • Strong Agile methodologies including proficiency in frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, and Lean.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Prefer certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP)® or Program Management Professional (PgMP)® from the Project Management Institute (PMI)®. Additionally, certifications in advanced Agile practices, such as Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)® or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC)®, are highly desirable

  • Hands-on experience and proficiency in managing integration projects within Verizon's Post-Pay Core Systems is extremely desirable but not mandatory. The candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of the platform's architecture, functionalities, and best practices to drive successful integrations and optimizations.

  • The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of leading Program Increment (PI) planning sessions within a scaled Agile framework (SAFe). They should possess strong facilitation skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to align cross-functional teams towards common objectives while driving continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Skilled in strategically establishing frameworks for requirements gathering while fostering engagement with business units and leaders. Their leadership ensures alignment between stakeholders and project teams, driving the delivery of solutions that meet organizational objectives.

  • Showcase a proven track record of developing comprehensive project plans, showcasing strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Demonstrate effective communication and relationship-building skills, fostering collaboration and alignment among diverse stakeholders.

  • Display expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks, ensuring proactive risk management strategies are in place.

  • Exhibit proficiency in managing project budgets, including tracking expenses, forecasting costs, and optimizing resource allocation.

  • Illustrate strong leadership abilities, empowering and motivating project teams to achieve project objectives.

  • Showcase problem-solving skills, with a track record of resolving project issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.

  • Demonstrate agility in managing project scope changes, assessing impacts, and implementing adjustments while minimizing disruption.

  • Provide evidence of meticulous documentation practices and regular reporting to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
