Senior Data Engineer (Remote)

Vendr is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help Vendr become the world’s top authority on everything related to SaaS data. In this role, you’ll be responsible for helping Vendr make transformational changes in the way companies Find, Buy, and Manage SaaS.

At Vendr, data is foundational for our organization and our success. We are looking to expand our Data Engineering team with folks who are excited to dive in and solve some incredibly hard (and fun) engineering problems to enable Vendr to continue its incredible growth. You will join a rapidly growing innovation team focused on moving quickly, learning, and iterating.

What you'll do:

• Designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines - simplifying overall data flows with emphasis on data quality and data observability.
• Simplify data ingestion across common paradigms (eg. CSV / flat file upload, API, FTP, Database connection) and updates of that data (eg. One time upload, Regular updates, Data pushed, Data pulled).
• Helping to manage data tools (eg. dbs, ETL, catalog).
• Generally, improve how data is created, updated, read, and deleted from our entire ecosystem in all forms.
• Providing data best practices and helping the org implement those best practices.
• Leverage first hand experience with relevant software to inform data set improvements.
• Identify, communicate, and lead the resolution of data gaps that impede the fulfillment of customer and operational objectives.
• Define, monitor, and help refine metrics to validate the efficacy of our approach.
• Establish best practices and guidelines around how we classify and represent the right software for a given customer’s business.

What we need:

• 5+ years of data engineering or engineering with strong data emphasis

• Technical experience as follows:

  • SQL (5+ years)
  • Snowflake (5+ years)
  • dbt (5+ years)
  • AWS (5+ years) - need a strong understanding of their ecosystem and cloud generally
    • Specific exp around - Aurora, S3, Redshift, Lambda
  • ETL Tooling (5+ years) - Stich, Fivetran, Airbyte, Hightouch
  • Data testing (5+ years)
  • GraphQL (3-5 years)
  • Python or similar (3-5 years)

• Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for reading research.

• Demonstrated success in delivering results working cross-functionally

• Problem solver and extremely organized

• Self-starter and quick learner with the ability to work independently

• Flexible, agile, and adaptable; used to wearing multiple hats; does not get easily overwhelmed

• Demonstrated ability to work closely and effectively with data science, engineering, user research and different business functions

• Exceptional prioritization and project management skills
