Description

This mission has become urgent. Ukraine is engaged in a war for survival with Russia. China regularly flies nuclear-capable bombers into Taiwan and Japan’s airspace. The US and our allies are fighting a war of deterrence with woefully outdated technology. We build software to support these missions, including providing battlefield information to allies, identifying malign activity, and helping the US deter and deescalate conflict.

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineering Intern to help build and refine our data collection and processing applications. You’ll learn how to automate scraping of the web for mission critical data. Our engineering culture is about empathizing with users and building software products that deliver maximum mission impact.  If that sounds exciting, then you could be a great fit on our team!

What You'll Do

  • Develop innovative solutions scraping data from various online sources 
  • Collaborate side-by-side with our engineers, leveraging your communication skills 
  • Provide and respond to peer code review feedback 
  • Test software to ensure accuracy and efficiency 
  • Write technical documentation 

Qualifications

  • 3+ months with software development experience
  • Length of internship/co-op is approximately 6 months to start immediately (35-40 hours per week), with a possibility to extend
  • Experience with Python 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills 
  • U.S. Person status is required with the ability to obtain security clearance.

Additional Qualifications (Nice to haves)

  • Experience scraping data or a strong desire to learn 
  • Experience with Docker 
  • Familiarity with relational databases

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $65,000-$90,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined by experience, relevant education, and/or training.
