Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking the full-time position of Lead Software Engineer. Telecommuting available from anywhere in US. HQ at 800 Nicollet Mall Minneapolis, MN 55402. 

 

Essential Responsibilities: 

Responsible for the analysis, design, testing, data modeling, development and maintenance of best in class software experiences. Responsible for software artifacts produced adhering to U.S. Bank standards in order to ensure minimal impact to the customer experience. Must be adept with the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles. Specific duties include: (1) analyze business requirements and build data models. Exposure to modern tools and techniques in Data modeling; (2) work in FinTech and API/Open banking architecture; (3) design, develop, test, operate, and maintain products; (4) implement programming (Java/Python preferred) and design principles; (5) work with structured databases (Oracle, MySQL) and unstructured databases (Hadoop, Cassandra); (6) take full stack ownership by consistently writing production-ready and testable code; (7) create optimal design adhering to architectural best practices; considers scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designs; (8) make sound design/coding decisions keeping customer experience in the forefront; (9) take feedback from code review and apply changes to meet standards; (10) conduct code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures; (11) ensure all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices; (12) exhibit relentless focus in software reliability engineering standards embedded into development standards; (13) embrace emerging technology opportunities and contributes to the best practices in support of the bank's technology transformation; 14) contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement; (15) review tasks critically and ensure they are appropriately prioritized and sized for incremental delivery; (16) anticipate and communicate blockers and delays before they require escalation; (17) work with Pipelines involving BigData (Hadoop) and NoSQL (Cassandra); (18) work with in Kafka/Solr/Elastic; (19) build workflows and related automation for sourcing requirements to logical modeling to physical implementation; and (20) utilize technical expertise and leadership skills to resolve issues, ensure product goals are met, and serve as a mentor to coach and support junior engineers to continue to raise the engineering bar across the organization. Use the following big data and cloud technologies: Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, HBase, Sqoop, Spark, Flume, YARN, Kafka, Azure, AWS, Cassandra, Mongo DB, and REST API. Use data integration products, including Informatica Power Center Big Data Edition (BDE) and Azure Data Factory. 

 

Basic Qualifications:  

This position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering and 5 years (progressive, post-baccalaureate) software development experience.  

 

Required Skills/Experience: 

Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: 1) Using the following big data and cloud technologies: Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, HBase, Sqoop, Spark, Flume, YARN, Kafka, Azure, AWS, Cassandra, Mongo DB, and REST API. 2) Project management, delivery management, resource management, and conflict management. Leverage Agile framework using Kanban. 3) Using the CI/CD pipeline to push code and automated processes; maintaining GIT hubs to securely run code. 4) Following best practices in design adhering to security and regulatory compliance, and giving priority to scalability, reliability and performance while making design decisions. 5) Using data integration products, including Informatica Power Center Big Data Edition (BDE) and Azure Data Factory. Experienced in data analytics, data architecture, metadata management, building data models, and master data management. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently. Telecommuting available from anywhere in US. HQ at 800 Nicollet Mall Minneapolis, MN 55402. 

 

Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location. Pay Range: $135,200 - $180,000
