About You
You write a lot of ES6 Javascript, on the client and the server. You might have mobile experience. You’re rock-solid in two domains (maybe more), edge-cases included. A quality code review is something you know how to do, and thinking in systems-level and fullstack terms comes naturally at this point for you.
Reactive frameworks, such as React and Vue are comfortable for you. Discussing technical trade-offs, and articulating them to everyone at the table, are things you excel at. Working on a small, fast-paced team excites you, and you feel that you can bring good habits while still writing code quickly to a fast-growing, sharp team. This wouldn’t be your first Node shop.
Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Remote or Columbus
Time Zone Requirements - This team operates across all US time zones.
Travel Requirements - This team has regular on-site collaboration sessions. These occur a few days per quarter at the San Mateo office. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.
How you'll make an impact:
- Actively participate and perform in code reviews and design sessions
- Mentor other engineers, support technical culture, and ensure best practices
- See the importance of strong security while scaling
What we're looking for:
- 6+ years of software experience at a startup or technology focused company
- Experience working in a production Node.js shop
- Strong expertise in using Javascript backend and frontend (Node & CSS)
- Experience defining and implementing system architecture with significant impact
- Expertise in our frameworks React, or Reactive Data Frameworks (Vue, Angular, etc.) is a strong plus, but we expect the world to change quickly and we want people who can be adaptive and who can come in and teach us too
- Experience with UI principles and a comfort talking the talk and walking the walk of design
- Strong experience in React, SQL
- Creativity, courage, empathy and stamina are integral to you as a person and employee
- A desire to learn and improve on a daily basis

The minimum base pay for this position in Colorado is $155,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay Act. It is specific to Colorado and may not be applicable to other locations.
