If you’re a motivated IT Systems Engineer with demonstrated experience of working with real-time data and cross-functionally with Software Development teams, then we have an excellent role within our Belgium-based transportation & logistics software business. 

You will be part of the global IT Operations Team for Trimble Transports & Logistics Europe. To aid us as we develop new software and hardware for our clients, we are adopting new and upcoming technologies that help us with this transformation over multiple products. The adoption of a DevOps culture plays an important role here, and we look for a candidate who is a strong believer of this culture.


Reporting into our IT Operations Manager and working as part of a team of five IT Systems Engineers, you’ll work very closely with our Development teams and act as a Platform Lead ensuring our software teams have a great Developer Experience as they produce quality of life and the latest versions of our T&L software. You’ll partake in the software teams sprints and daily standups and have the opportunity to learn from highly skilled Developers with years of experience in T&L software development. 


What You Will Do:

  • Configuration, optimization, documentation and support of the infrastructure components of Trimble Transport & Logistics software products which are 100% hosted on AWS.
  • Design and build tools and frameworks that support deploying and managing our platforms
  • Design, build, and deliver cloud computing solutions, hosted services, and underlying software infrastructure.
  • Assist in coaching application developers on proper techniques for building scalable applications in the microservices paradigm.
  • Foster collaboration with software product development, architecture, and IT teams to ensure releases are delivered with repeatable and auditable processes.
  • Support and troubleshoot scalability, high availability, performance, monitoring, backup and restores of different environments.
  • Work independently across multiple platforms and applications to understand dependencies. 
  • Evaluate new tools, technologies, and processes to improve speed, efficiency, and scalability of our continuous integration environments.
  • Interact with internal customers/departments in the design, setup, testing and monitoring of IT solutions
  • Troubleshoot intermediate to  advanced problems reported by internal customers, systems, or team members; escalating to upper level associates as appropriate
  • Make sure that we adhere to Cyber Security best-practices throughout the processes
  • This role includes on-call duties for second line operational incidents, which are accounted for of course (1 week in 6 weeks).

Your Skills & Experience:

  • 3-year degree or equivalent experience in a software related field.
  • 2+ years experience with cloud-based provisioning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and related DevOps technologies.
  • 1+ years experience with containerization/orchestration technologies tools like Docker, Kubernetes or AWS ECS
  • Experience with managing Linux and/or Windows servers.
  • Experience with build technologies and tools like Packer, NPM, Maven, Gradle or similar.
  • Experience in delivering and managing web or cloud-based services.
  • Experience SCM tools such as Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.
  • Experience with cloud services like Amazon Web Services and related APIs. 
  • Experience with config/provisioning tools like Terraform or Ansible
  • Experience with scripting and automated process management via scripting, such as Bash, POSIX Shell and Python.
  • Experience with basic networking concepts like Routing, SNMP, Web Application Firewalls, Load Balancing, VPNs, taking packet captures, analysing traffic
