ABOUT THE TEAM

In Platform Engineering we believe in the power of autonomy and in giving end-to-end ownership to all engineers. To support Platform Engineering’s mission, we —Application Platform — power up the infrastructure that serves millions of users of Trade Republic. We do so through the creation of self-service platforms that support compute, storage and communication between systems. 

More specifically, Application Platform enables….

• Supporting Kubernetes as a platform for everything compute

• Communication between services through technologies like Kafka, AWS Kinesis and RabbitMQ

• Data storage and caching capabilities through technologies like AWS RDS, Cassandra and Redis

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING?

• Ensure scalability, stability and availability of our systems through automation, problem prevention and evangelising system ownership culture 

• Further develop the monitoring and alerting for our systems to ensure a reliable service to our customers

• Provide the means for teams to have full observability (e.g. latency, availability, health metrics…) for mission-critical systems once they are live 

• Design and maintain scalable infrastructure on the Cloud (AWS), leveraging infrastructure as code with Terraform

• Architect and ship software to help engineering teams adopt best practices to ship software faster through automated continuous integration and delivery pipelines

• Empower your colleagues to become better every day by giving them constant constructive feedback, sharing acquired knowledge and guiding them when applicable

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR

• Previous Experience working in software engineering. This includes cloud, infrastructure, distributed systems, systems engineering and networking)

• Well-rounded understanding of managing business-critical systems in cloud infrastructure, following best practices for observability and scalability 

• Good understanding of distributed systems, system engineering and networking

• Solid experience with at least one programming language. We mostly use Kotlin, Java and Python but we are far more interested in your well-roundedness as an engineer rather than knowledge of a certain language, tool or framework

• Exceptional ownership and drive to create business impact & to empower your colleagues to become better every day

• Strong communication skills and ability to drive ideas & technical implementations to stakeholders from various backgrounds
