Creative Effects are a big part of the TikTok experience. From Versailles Run to Dancing Dino, effects make content creation easy, and fun. Each effect has the potential to reach TikTok’s global community of a billion+ users and inspire new trends, lots of joy, and endless creativity. Our mission is to inspire user creativity with powerful creation tools. We are building Effect House, the official Augmented Reality creation tool for TikTok. If you are passionate about AR technologies and 3D content creation, you came to the right place.

You will be responsible for crafting the technology that enables intuitive effect development and design. From advanced interactions to visual scripting, you’ll build the tools our creators need to experiment and make engaging, immersive, and innovative effects, bringing creativity to (augmented) reality! You will focus on building a unified algorithm system that delivers numerous cutting-edge AR algorithms to various TikTok products. Our AR Effect Platform enables the breakthrough AR interactive experience, consumed by hundreds of millions of TikTok users around the world.

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement new features for Effect House, TikTok's special effects editor.
- Define the future direction of our editing tools core technology, creation workflows and pipeline.
- Support our fast growing effect creator community and internal effect production team to achieve their creative vision.- Past experience working on 3D games and/or film production (Knowledge of game engines such as Unity/Unreal, real time rendering, animation, VFX pipelines, visual programming, etc.).
- Solid data structure and algorithm foundations.
- Proficient with native programming concepts (C++, multi-threading, memory management, etc.)
- Excellent system design skills, and UI/UX product design sense.

Preferred Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. Computer Science or related field with 5 years of experience in software development experience
- Experience working on AR/VR projects.
- Experience with Web Technologies (React, JavaScript/TypeScript, nodeJS).
- Experience with Cross-Platform PC and Mobile development (macOS, Windows, iOS, Android).
- Familiar with graphics APIs (OpenGL, WebGL, DirectX, Metal, or Vulkan) and GPU architectures.
- Experience creating developer-facing APIs, Plugin or libraries.
- Experience navigating in a cross-functional environment.
- Have good product sense, passionate about great user experiences.
- Passionate about TikTok, augmented reality, as well as creating the most fun, original and creative ideas and experiences.
