Our Applied Science practice leverages a unique combination of technologies and expertise to engineer practical solutions to problems of national and international importance.  We apply expertise in solid and fluid dynamics, materials science, acoustics, risk assessments and computational simulation methods to solve complex problems. We preform research, mathematical modeling, software development and design to manage risks to life safety in military platforms and installations, ships and submarines, critical infrastructure, tall buildings, public facilities, industrial and petrochemical plants and automotive and airborne vehicles. Military, government, corporate and academic clients’ value the validation of Applied Science’s software and the critical insights gained from correlating analysis with testing.

The Role

We have an opportunity for a Safety Consultant to join our Perth office.  This mid-level role is to support our technical safety and risk team and will include consulting assignments, technical development (generating new tools and applications), project management and business development. We are developing our multi-practice business in Australia, and Perth represents one of our growth offices where we are looking for candidates to join our expanding team.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will become involved in projects related to oil, gas, LNG, Hydrogen and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), located onshore or offshore and in diverse locations. Our work is in support of operating facilities and safety studies or engineering development covering a spectrum of project phases, from Concept Development to Detailed Design.

Requirements

• Demonstrate excellent understanding of fundamental principles and problem solving.

• Excellent technical writing skills are required, as are exemplary engineering/scientific problem-solving abilities.

• Applicants must have experience in a number of the following areas; Safety Case Authoring; Safety Studies (supporting Formal Safety Assessment / Risk Management, including consequence assessment, Evacuation, Escape and Rescue Analysis and Emergency Systems Survivability Analysis; Understanding of Fire and Explosion Dynamics; Quantitative Risk Assessment (DNV Safeti experience desirable); ALARP Demonstration; Safety Management Systems; Performance Standards and Bowtie Analysis.
   

Qualifications

• Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in an engineering or science discipline.
