The pay range is $111,200.00 - $200,200.00

As a Lead Engineer, you serve as the technical anchor for the engineering team that supports a product. You create, own and are responsible for the application architecture that best serves the product in its functional and non-functional needs. You identify and drive architectural changes to accelerate feature development or improve the quality of service (or both). You have deep and broad engineering skills and are capable of standing up an architecture in its whole on your own, but you choose to influence a wider team by acting as a “force multiplier”.

As a Lead Android Engineer on the Flagship mobile team you will: 

Develop clean, well-tested native Android code to deliver functionality that meets business objectives 

Coach and mentor junior engineers to provide guidance on coding and design best practices 

Analyze requirements and design 

Work closely with partner teams such as UX, Product and back end as needed  

Perform complex engineering tasks independently as well as collaboratively 

Evaluate and communicate different engineering solutions and trade-offs

About you:

4 year degree or equivalent experience 
7+ years of experience in software design & development

• 4+ years of experience developing apps for Android 

• Experience developing in Kotlin, including using coroutines
• Experience with distributing mobile applications via public app stores and/or enterprise channels

• Excellent knowledge of working with dynamic data using services (e.g., JSON, REST APIs, etc)

• Experience performance profiling and tuning consumer facing mobile applications

• Excellent hands on skills with Android application development tools, including Android Studio and the Android SDK

• Experience mentoring and coaching an engineering team by providing feedback and technical direction
Communicates and coordinates with project team, partners, and stakeholders 
Maintains deep technical knowledge within areas of expertise 
Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education 

Desired Expereince: 

• Experience with Jetpack Compose

• Experience integrating libraries with Gradle and using other third party frameworks tools and SDKs, such as Retrofit, Moshi, and Epoxy

• Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Dagger, Hilt, or Anvil

• Experience with instrumented UI testing with Espresso

• Experience with continuous delivery in mobile, including Test- or Behavior-Driven Design, code review, static analysis, continuous integration, automation and functional testing.

• Experience with authenticated sessions using OAuth and authentication tokens

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
