Job Overview

The Sr Data Engineer designs and develops data architectures in on-premise, cloud and hybrid platforms. The Sr Data Engineer collaborates with Data Engineers on analysis, architecture, design, and development of data warehouse and business analytics solutions. This role mentors other team members in their efforts to build data engineering skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop data engineering solutions, including data pipelines and data warehouses, that are optimized to support ML/AI development
  • Design and develop data architectures in on-premise, cloud and hybrid platforms
  • Discover, explore & wrangle heterogeneous data in pursuit of modeling datasets that capture the full range of our customer experience
  • Collaborate with data scientists to design, develop efficient, repeatable MLOps flows
  • Oversee the deployment of scheduled MLOps flows, including publication of final model scores. Collaborate with team members to resolve MLOps process interruptions and communicate resolution timelines to business partners.
  • Assist team management in defining projects, including helping estimate, plan and scope work
  • Actively contribute to the team’s knowledge and drive new capabilities forward
  • Mentor other team members in their efforts to build data engineering skillsets
  • Prepare and contribute to presentations required by management


Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related subject area or equivalent experience (Required)
  • 5 years developing cloud solutions using data series; experience with cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Azure, or Google Cloud) Required
  • Hands-on development using and migrating data to cloud platforms Required
  • Experience in SQL, NoSQL, and/or relational database design and development Required
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in building complex data pipelines with Python, Experience in languages such as SQL, DAX Python, Java, Scala, and/or Go Required
  • 1+ years managing data flows in Databricks (Desired)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Analytical approach to problem-solving; ability to use technology to tackle business problems (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores (Preferred)
  • Ability to manage work across multiple projects, good organizational skills (Preferred)
  • Passionate about learning new technologies (Preferred)


Licenses and Certifications:

  • Cloud platform certification(s) i.e. AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) (Preferred)

Base Pay Range: $105,100 - $189,600

Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
