Job description

• The Canadian Engineering Domain is looking for a DevOps Engineer with experience designing, developing, implementing, supporting and analyzing large-scale tooling and systems that support the end-to-end continuous delivery process.

  To be successful in this role, you will have lived through previous successful DevOps implementations or migrations that focus on the software build, packaging and deployment automation including tools and processes.

Preferred skills

• Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and adapt approach when dealing with technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a strong, collaborative multi-site team
• Excellent organizing, planning and time management skills
• Knowledge on AzureDevops
• Knowledge on any one of object-oriented programming (Ex: C#, Java, or python)
• Familiar with Security tools such as Xray, Snyk, Seeker, Burp Suite
• Self-directed and proactive; thinking beyond the immediate problem with ability to analyze situations/problems systematically and deliver effective, right-sized solutions in a timely manner

Qualifications

• Code management tools such as Bitbucket, Git, Sourcetree
• Scripting languages such as Maven, Gradle, Groovy, PowerShell, Bash/shell
• Using and configuring build and orchestration tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, MS Build, Artifactory
• Static code analysis tools such as Sonarqube, Spotbugs and Checkstyle
• Deployment and release management tools such as Ansible, CDD, kubernetes /AWS
• Shift-left testing and the technologies involved in facilitating this movement
• technical debt reduction and creating metrics to direct remediation efforts

What you need to succeed:

• University Degree or College Diploma in Technology discipline
• 5+ years of progressive information technology experience with full application development life cycle and systems integration experience
• As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

2 years of experience in the following:

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects, designers, application analysts, operations teams and testing specialists to deliver automated DevOps pipelines
• Assist development teams with the preparation of releases for production. This may include assisting in the automation of performance tests, validation of infrastructure requirements and guiding the team with respect to system decisions
• Create or improve the automated deployment processes, techniques and tools
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical operational issues related to the DevOps infrastructure
• Review and analyze organizational needs, goals and roadmaps to assess feasibility and future impacts to applications and systems
• Ensure information security standards and requirements are incorporated into all solutions
• Stay current with trends in emerging technologies and how they could apply to Sun Life

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
