Senior Backend Engineer (Kotlin + Java), Store Management

As a member of the Store Management team, you will work on Item Catalog and enable our Merchants to maintain all their items & services in one place and give them a complete record of their item offerings and business process to run their business successfully.

What you’ll do:

• Build and thoroughly monitor a world-class events-driven system
• Make sure that SumUp merchants can seamlessly grow their business, relying on their Item Catalog to grow with them
• Work with multiple stakeholders, including your fellow teammates, product manager, engineering manager, and b2b consumers of catalog.
• Share your know-how and learn from experienced and highly motivated colleagues
• Wok in a healthy and fun team environment

You’ll be great for this role if:

• You’ve developed production systems using Kotlin + Java (we’re using Kotlin with Spring Boot)
• You’re familiar with any cloud infrastructure (we’re using AWS: S3, SQS, AmazonMQ, RDS, and Kubernetes)
• You’re familiar with message queues (we’re using Kafka and RabbitMQ)
• You’ve built REST and gRPC APIs (with a focus on latter)
• You have a strong focus on observability and stability of the developed system (most  of the team members are in on-call rotation)
