Senior Backend Engineer (Golang) - Global Expansion

The Global Expansion Team is performing all the activities needed to enter new markets (countries) with one or more of SumUp’s existing products. We empower our new markets with the necessary products and support them so they can grow effectively.

As part of this cross-functional squad within Global Expansion, you will take care of integrating new acquirers into the SumUp ecosystem to enable our products in new markets.

Together with your Squad you will also build tools to enable faster market launches and help other teams to build solutions they can scale in new markets.  

 

What you’ll do

• To ensure smooth deployment, continuous integration, and support for the software that we deliver, you will drive the collaboration with other software developers, QA and DevOps engineers
• Help your team to deliver business value by making decisions, thus actively participating in the product and engineering discussions
• Maintain and extend the core payments and internal tooling systems, responsible for the transaction flow for different payment methods and help agents to provide better support
• Participate in API design and implementation for both internal APIs and those exposed to our third-party integrators
• Continue strengthening a culture of mob and pair programming and amazingly run monitoring and alerting for our products

 

You’ll be great for this role if you

• Are an experienced Backend Engineer (Golang) who is open to learn new technologies
• Are knowledgeable in DevOps practices and technologies (Docker, AWS, Kubernetes, as well as CI/CD) with attention to meaningful logging, monitoring and overall operational excellence
• Are used to Pair- or Mob programming as the best practice way of collaborating
• Have experience with event-driven systems
• Have a good understanding of software architecture, application design and experience creating thorough documentation
• Have experience with distributed and fault-tolerant systems and a passion for clean and maintainable code
• Value team over individuals and autonomy within your team

It is a plus if you

• Have experience with JVM-based languages 
• Are interested in learning more about the payments industry
