Senior AI Software Engineer

Within the Global Operations organisation, our mission is to build the best customer experience in the fintech industry by delivering an effortless experience to all our merchants. We are seeking a skilled and passionate AI Software Engineer to join our talented AI Team and contribute to the development of AI models and algorithms that will drive our customer support service to new heights. The main focus will be to develop AI automated tools for chat, call and email.

As an AI Software Engineer at SumUp, you will be responsible for building and maintaining an infrastructure that will revolutionise how SumUp does support. You will ensure the security, robustness and scalability of state-of-the-art AI models and integrate them with our main product. Your expertise will be crucial in driving the success of our AI-driven initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including frontend and mobile engineers, data scientists, ML engineers and product managers, to translate business requirements into innovative AI solutions. Your contributions will shape the future of our products and help us stay at the forefront of technological advancements in the field of AI and automation of Customer Support.

What you’ll do

• Write clean, maintainable, testable, and scalable code in Python and relevant frameworks (e.g., langchain, fastAPI)
• Design and develop software components and APIs for SumUp AI Bot
• Deploy AI models into production environments, ensuring stability, reliability, and security
• Implement automation tools and frameworks for automatic code deployment (CI/CD)
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of deployed models, iterating on improvements
• Collaborate with data scientists and stakeholders to understand project requirements and define AI solutions, guiding their implementation and upskilling their code quality and best practices
• Utilise your curiosity in AI to explore and implement generative AI technologies into our product strategy.

You’ll be great for this position if you have:

• 5+ years of software development experience 
• Expert programming with Python, building APIs (e.g., fastAPI) and architecting microservices
• Experience creating CI/CD Pipelines using Github, docker, terraform, kubernetes, helm, etc.
• Experience with cloud native tools or 3rd party tools for status monitoring and alerting (e.g., Prometheus, Honeycomb, Grafana, ..)
• Expert with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), relational databases and deploying AI models on cloud infrastructure
• Strong team player with the ability to work effectively in diverse and agile environments
• Proven mentorship experience, guiding and developing other team members
