Senior iOS Engineer - Super App

About the Super App Squad:

Super App serves as a gateway to the expansive world of SumUp, offering merchants a variety of essential products such as payment acceptance, banking, invoicing, lending, and more. Our team's primary focus is on enhancing the Home Screen of the application, which includes critical components like navigation, settings, home screen content logic, customization, inbox, and more.

Given that the Home Screen is the primary entry point for our app, this position requires a significant level of responsibility as any modifications made will impact the entire SumUp mobile user base. In addition to improving the Home Screen, another crucial aspect of our work is developing and refining our ODL (One Design Language). As part of this effort, you will be involved in creating a cohesive design system that harmonizes components across all platforms.

 

The team ownership is:

• Application Home Screen Architecture;
• Product features aiming to improve user experience like reviews, navigation, inbox;
• Build-in blocks in SumUp’s design system;
• A/B Experiments;

You also will be busy with:

• SumUp Mobile Chapter architectural discussions and decision-making sessions;
• Mentoring more junior team members;
• Improving and developing better squad/organization processes;
• Constant communication with stakeholders and team across SumUp;

 

About the role & what you’ll do

As Senior iOS Engineer, you will play a crucial role in creating a personalized and seamless user experience for SumUp's clients by leading and contributing to the development of the Home Screen engineering. Your work will have a direct impact on the first impression of our app for new users, which is a vital factor in establishing trust and loyalty among our Merchants. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with multiple groups and departments, ensuring that your contributions have a broad reach and a significant impact on customer satisfaction and conversion rates.

• Work with the modern tech stack based on Swift.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Design to bring exciting new features to our merchant-facing web applications.
• Follow UI design best practices to contribute to our component library Circuit UI, giving input to the open-source community and helping SumUppers build consistent features.
• Engage in code reviews as a way to collaborate with other software engineers.
• Help your team deliver business value, participating in product and engineering discussions and taking decisions related to mobile development.
• Engage with broader scopes like chapters and guilds to learn and promote our culture and practices.
• Master A/B testing.

 

You’ll be great for this role if you have:

• 6+ years as iOS Engineer.
• Proficiency in Swift and Objective-C programming languages.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• In-depth knowledge of iOS SDK and Xcode, including iOS architecture patterns such as MVC, MVVM, and VIPER.
• Understanding of iOS design principles and guidelines.
• Knowledge of version control systems, such as Git, and continuous integration tools, such as Jenkins or CircleCI.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to mentor and lead junior engineers.
• Experience in running A/B tests.

Nice to have:

• Experience in fintech domain knowledge
