About the team

Connect builds infrastructure for the world’s leading platforms and marketplaces to incorporate payments into their products. Connect has been at the forefront of Stripe’s growth due to the power of its offering, which enables our users to distribute Stripe’s payment processing directly to their sellers and merchants. As Stripe grows its suite of product offerings beyond payments, Connect will unlock a new phase of growth for Stripe by enabling our platforms to distribute all of Stripe’s products to their end users.

The Connect Platform Experiences team is building end-to-end product experiences for platforms and marketplaces (colloquially called “Platforms”) to manage their businesses on Stripe. This is often surfaced through but not limited to the “Connect” tab on the Stripe Dashboard where Platforms are able to gain visibility into the health of their business, resolve issues and derive insights to thrive & grow their business.

What you’ll do

We are a team of full stack engineers and are looking to hire a Tech Lead to drive the technical charter of the team and help build delightful yet scalable experiences for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers & technical leaders across the company to ship interoperable products on strong foundations
  • Build high quality end-to-end product experiences for platforms 
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling and processes
  • Develop and lead the team to execute against both short-term and long-term roadmaps.
  • Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
  • Teach and mentor other team members to become the next generation of leaders at Stripe

Who you are

Minimum requirements

  • Experience serving as a technical lead spanning multiple teams and functions, leading large projects and having organization-wide impact.
  • Experience mentoring teams of senior engineers over multi-quarter or multi-year projects.
  • Experience defining the roadmap for complex projects, spanning multiple teams and functions.
  • Ability to clearly identify business priorities, create new areas of investments, anticipate pitfalls and risks, and deep technical expertise for teams you lead.
  • Ability to interact with customers directly in order to better understand their use cases and to brainstorm better ways to solve their problems.
  • Deep care for users' needs, and ability to be a steward of crafting great experiences.
  • Ability to design, build, and scale high-quality software and systems that strike the right balance between simplicity, flexibility, scalability, and security.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Experience as a generalist, working on both the frontend, backend, and anything it takes to solve problems and delight users both internally and externally.

Preferred qualifications

  • 8+ years experience as a software engineer, working across the stack. 
  • 2+ years experience as a Tech Lead of a team with senior engineers.
