About the team

The Climate team’s mission is to dramatically accelerate the world’s transition to a net zero economy. In 2021, we launched Stripe Climate enabling merchants to direct a fraction of their revenue to help scale emerging carbon removal technologies in just a few clicks. In 2022, we launched Frontier in collaboration with Alphabet, Shopify, Meta, and McKinsey Sustainability. Frontier is an advance market commitment to buy $925M+ of permanent carbon removal by 2030. For our next act, we want to help everyone easily purchase permanent carbon removal from the most innovative suppliers in Frontier’s portfolio. 

To avoid the worst effects of climate change, most climate models agree the world will need around 6 billion tons of carbon removal a year by 2050. If successful, we’ll increase the likelihood that the world has the portfolio of carbon removal solutions needed to reach these climate goals. We need your help!

What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join our small (but mighty!) emerging business. We’re looking for someone with strong engineering skills and an entrepreneurial spirit to help build solid foundations and products that maximize our climate impact for both Stripe and non-Stripe businesses. If you’re comfortable operating at all layers of the stack and thinking about technical, user, and strategic questions you might be just who we’re looking for. 

Responsibilities

• Scope and lead complex technical projects, laying the groundwork for early-stage products to iterate and scale.
• Design, build, and maintain user-facing experiences, APIs, services, and systems.
• Create beautiful web surfaces and interactive dashboard experiences using React, JavaScript and CSS.
• Work closely with multiple disciplines including PM, Design, and Strategy & Operations to help ship great solutions that deliver on merchant needs.
• Develop and execute against both short- and long-term roadmaps. Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.

Who you are

Minimum requirements

• Has a strong technical background, including 3+ years of experience working on the frontend, backend, and doing anything it takes to solve problems and delight users.
• B.S. or M.S. Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Is comfortable working on a new product under fluid conditions, balancing tactical and strategic considerations.
• Is motivated by solving hard problems, and measures their success in terms of impact doing so.
• Works well cross-functionally and earns trust from co-workers at all levels. You are often cited as the inspiration for engineers that join your team.

Preferred qualifications

• Ability to communicate results clearly and focus on impact.
• Experience shipping high-quality products from start to finish.
• Prefers simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what will last and scale.
