About the Site Reliability Engineer

Stairwell is actively searching for a seasoned Site Reliability Engineer to spearhead our reliability and infrastructure initiatives. This pivotal role offers an opportunity to lead and define the function, with projects that push boundaries, such as exploring the potential of bare metal configurations. Beyond just system management, we need a keen problem-solver who isn’t afraid to dive deep, dissecting challenges to their core, and proposing innovative solutions. Effective communication is key, especially when translating technical nuances to our broader team.

Site Reliability Engineer Responsibilities

  • Manage and scale large-scale distributed systems and bare metal servers
  • Set up and manage Kubernetes clusters, including setting up and configuring Kubernetes resources, and monitoring and scaling Kubernetes applications.
  • Set up private networks, including network topology, addressing, and security, and be familiar with VPN technologies and network segmentation strategies.
  • Configure and integrate cloud infrastructure, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, with on-premise bare metal infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and come up with effective solutions quickly.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, and explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Site Reliability Engineer Qualifications

  • At least 7-10 years of relevant experience working as an SRE or in a similar role, with a focus on managing and building large-scale distributed systems, configuring and running bare metal servers, expertise in Kubernetes, setting up private networks, and hybrid cloud plus bare metal experience.
  • Experience with startup environments, and building systems from the ground up.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Additional Information: Minimum Salary of $170,000 - $190,000 + equity + benefits.
