Intern Platform Engineer (Development)

SpotOn is a cutting-edge software company dedicated to redefining the merchant services industry. SpotOn combines payment processing with customer engagement and business management solutions, giving small and medium businesses the data and tools they need to run and grow their business. Our tools increase revenue and connect businesses with their customers using rewards, deals, online reviews, website building, and data analytics. Tools like these were previously only available to big businesses with big bankrolls and their own developers, but our platform caters to neighborhood stores, independent retailers, and other small to midsize businesses. We have our service deployed in many cities across the U.S. and Mexico. 

On a daily basis you will:

• Develop containerized backend applications deployed to Kubernetes
• Create and improve reusable Github Actions to simplify our CI/CD process
• Add features to Backstage, our internal development portal
• Learn from experienced engineers about what it takes to run hundreds of services at scale

What skill are we searching for?

• Good knowledge of any modern programming language - C++, Java, Python, Javascript, or any other - we are mostly interested in your ability to write code, not the tools
• Willingness to learn Typescript, Terraform, Kubernetes
• Basic knowledge of Git
• Students of a 3rd, 4th, or 5th year of Computer Science or related field
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Highly motivated and eager to learn fast
• Good command of written and spoken English
