Senior Software Engineer - Platform

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with experience in building dev portals and internal developer platforms for large enterprises. The job requires a deep understanding of the Java ecosystem, including frameworks, build systems and deployment strategies, together with a high motivation and willingness to provide high-quality products and service to the dev teams. A good candidate must be comfortable in a fast-delivery environment and equally capable of designing and implementing complex yet efficient solutions to meet end-user requirements.

The ideal candidate will be able to master a wide scope in the software landscape including application frameworking and golden path definitions from the development process all the way to tracking SLAs in production.

The selected Platform Engineer will embark on a unique journey to create an enterprise-grade solution from the ground up. This solution will provide our developers with out-of-the-box self-service capabilities for infrastructure management, automated service discovery with service catalog visualization, and the establishment of SLDC SLAs and quality metrics for complete visibility into application and team performance.

Responsibilities:

• Take an active role in the design and development of an in-house infrastructure management platform, connecting and managing on-premise and in the cloud infrastructure (databases, storage, compute resources, secrets management, and others).
• Become a key player in an internal dev portal based on Backstage, including service catalog, discovery, enrollment, lifecycle, day 2 operations and common integrations including integrations with SonarQube, PagerDuty, Grafana, Gitlab, K8S, etc..
• Design and implement testable, efficient code.

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject
• At least 6 years of Java experience
• Experience automating manual processes and using third-party APIs
• Experience with Spring Boot framework
• Experience with K8S and Docker or other OCI solutions
• Experience with at least one NoSQL (Couchbase/Cassandra) and at least one SQL (MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL/Oracle) databases
• A team player with excellent communication skills
• Excellent understanding of OOP principles, data structures, algorithms

Major Advantages:

• Experience working with Backstage.
• Mastery in additional programming languages like Python or Go.
• Experience writing libraries and development infrastructure using Spring Boot.
• Kafka/Kafka Connect/Kafka Streams experience.
• Knowledge in Security, Secret Management, PKI.
• Experience with automation using GitLab APIs and CI/CD.
• Some DevOps experience.
