Senior Backend Software Engineer (Slingshot Laboratory)

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will design and build capabilities that advance the development of our products. You will be a strong contributor and learner with the entire engineering team by not only delivering high-quality code on-time, but helping your teammates do so as well in an independent capacity. You’ll work with your team on the Laboratory Program interacting with product managers, designers, and other engineers in implementing our next generation space simulation, education and control technologies, while advancing the operational stability of the overall product. Pre-Requisites

• Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for government clearances

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience designing and building durable, scalable, and high-availability systems, optimizing for delivering the most value as quickly as possible
• Experience using our stack or similar technologies (Node.js, Typescript, GraphQL, TypeORM/PostgreSQL, Python 3, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Docker)
• Experience with cloud-based deployments (AWS) PaaS and IaaS offerings including some experience with Infrastructure-As-Code solutions
• Experience with database design, performance, and troubleshooting (PostgreSQL)
• Experience with containers and container orchestration (Docker, docker-compose, Fargate, Kubernetes)
• Deep working knowledge of version control (git) and CI/CD tools (CircleCI, Gitlab-CI)
• Experience working on a small, tight-knit, high-performing engineering team
• Enjoy being a generalist working on both the backend and anything it takes to solve problems and delight users both internally and externally
• Experience writing unit and integration tests
• Enjoys working with a diverse group of people with different expertise
• Skill and comfort working in a rapidly moving startup environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users
• Experience pulling data from a variety of sources and developing ETL pipelines

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AWS Cloud Native Technologies (AWS Lambda, CDK, Fargate, Kinesis etc.)
• Experience with asynchronous processing and/or data streaming technologies, such as ZeroMQ or Kafka
• Familiar with building data platforms, microservices, distributed systems
• Advanced data interfaces and interaction UI development
• Early-stage data-centric startup experience
