About Sleeper: Sleeper is a rapidly expanding platform for fantasy sports and games, revolutionizing the way sports fans connect and engage. With Sleeper Picks, our real-money Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) game, users predict player performance against statistical projections provided by third-party vendors. We are at the forefront of innovation in the sports gaming industry, backed by some of Silicon Valley's top investors.

Role Overview: Sleeper is seeking a pioneering Software Engineer for Risk and Trading to lead our DFS and sports betting risk management and trading operations. This unique role blends the analytical and strategic insight of a seasoned sports trader with the technical prowess to autonomously develop and deploy the necessary algorithms and systems. You will be instrumental in building out Sleeper’s risk management framework from the ground up, ensuring we mitigate losses while enhancing user experience across our DFS and sports betting offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop real-time systems to monitor Sleeper’s liability, exposure to specific markets, and outcomes, ensuring robust risk management for Sleeper Picks.

  • Create automated systems to adjust or suspend betting lines and prices based on contest liability, market comparisons, anomalous behavior and real-time sports events.

  • Profile DFS users, utilizing contest data to group users into cohorts for tailored risk management strategies.

  • Identify and address systemic issues within Sleeper Picks markets, game rules, or payout structures through both strategic decisions and technical solutions.

  • Collaborate closely with the product and engineering teams to assess, design, and implement new game types and market offerings.

  • Automate risk and trading processes to efficiently scale as Sleeper expands into new sports and markets.

Who You Are:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics/Statistics, or a related field.

  • Experience in sports betting or as a winning sports bettor, with a deep understanding of player props, handicapping, expected value, and closing line value.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement algorithms or systems in a professional setting, with strong coding skills in languages relevant to data analysis and backend development.

  • Highly proactive, with a track record of building processes from scratch and a willingness to challenge traditional risk management paradigms.

  • Flexibility to work off-hours, aligning with sports event schedules while maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

  • Comfortable in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, thriving on innovation and the challenge of creating something new.

What We Offer:

  • A salary range of $150,000 to $235,000 USD, based on experience, plus benefits including Medical, Dental, PTO, and 401k.

  • A small, impactful team environment where you can truly make a difference.

  • The opportunity to be at the forefront of transforming the sports betting and DFS landscape.

  • Support for professional growth with a company backed by leading investors.
