Description

SeatGeek believes live events are powerful experiences that unite humans. With our technological savvy and fan-first attitude we’re simplifying and modernizing the ticketing industry.

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join SeatGeek’s Supply Analytics team, focusing on inventory, seller, and pricing workstreams.

You will join a team that is the go-to partner on data production and insights generation for SeatGeek’s Supply team, which is responsible for developing a healthy supply-side marketplace. Your recommendations will shape strategy across key functions such as ticket pricing, strategic inventory acquisition, and competitor intelligence. You will develop a deep understanding of how SeatGeek can use its unique position in the industry to reach our revenue goals. You will tackle open ended questions, conduct exploratory analyses, and build data models and dashboards.

What you'll do

  • Develop, validate and maintain predictive and time-series models that play a critical role in making business decisions
  • Understand and utilize a variety of machine learning techniques to carry out advanced analyses using novel datasets
  • Develop research questions and conduct data analysis to generate insights and recommendations that help SeatGeek make smarter decisions and enhance operational efficiency
  • Define, evaluate, and monitor key metrics, understanding the root causes of changes, and feeding them back to business stakeholders to action on
  • Work closely with the Analytics Engineering team to build lasting, analysis-friendly data models, and perform batch models that run in production
  • Contribute to the development of the Supply Analytics function and the wider data community at SeatGeek with programming and problem-solving best practices
  • Partner with stakeholders on the Supply team, understanding their objectives and aligning our work to complement and enhance their ability to achieve those goals

Who you are

You have experience working on open-ended projects, and the ability to come up with creative, elegant solutions to complex issues. Experience with specific tools is less important than experience and drive, but at a minimum we would expect:

  • 3+ years of relevant applied experience with a degree or higher in economics, computer science, statistics, or mathematics or another quantitative discipline
  • A strong understanding of standard statistical methods for analysis
  • Expertise with at least one scripting language (ideally Python, though R is acceptable)
  • Expert-level knowledge of SQL
  • Experience with analytics & visualization tools (Looker, ggplot/matplotlib or equivalent)
  • Experience performing analysis with large datasets
  • An independent thinker, able to work autonomously, capable of taking on loosely defined problems and translating complex thinking into practical application for diverse audiences
  • A natural communicator who values building strong relationships with colleagues and partners and enjoys mentoring and teaching others

The tools we use

We do research and development work in a custom environment optimized for repeatability and collaboration. You absolutely do not need experience with all of these, but we thought you might be curious.

  • Languages: Python (preferred) or R, SQL
  • Version control: Git
  • Orchestration: Airflow

Perks

  • Equity stake
  • Flexible work environment, allowing you to work as many days a week in the office as you’d like or 100% remotely
  • A WFH stipend to support your home office setup
  • Flexible PTO
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid family leave
  • 401(k) matching program
  • Health, vision, dental, and life insurance
  • Annual subscriptions to Headspace, Ginger.io, and One Medical
  • $120 a month to spend on tickets to live events
  • Annual subscription to Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon music

The salary range for this role is $120,000-$205,000. Actual compensation packages within that range are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.
