As a Designer in Engineering Services, you’ll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.   

 

As a Designer, a typical day might include the following:  

· Creating detailed physical and electrical designs and preparing CAD drawings and other project documentation. Design drawings include substation layout, electrical elevations and details, grounding plan and details, foundation plan and details, conduit plan and details, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams etc.

· Developing diverse set of drawings for review/construction with varying complexities.

· Providing design engineering support to project technical leads.

· Developing and maintaining an acceptable level of expertise in SEL equipment, solutions and industry design practices.

· Assisting and mentoring drafters with technical tasks.

· Performing design reviews for quality assurance and providing valuable feedback.

· Completing assigned work and submitting within timelines and budgets with a high level of quality.

· Using the best available processes and tools and providing feedback on process enhancements.

 

 This job might be for you if: 

· You have experience working with 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.

· You have an Associate degree in EET, CAD, Drafting, or relevant discipline; or possess equivalent experience for each academic year.

· You have three plus years of relevant experience with high voltage electrical design, including several projects in substation physical/civil/structural design OR protective relay controls systems.

· You have strong attention to detail and possess analytical and problem-solving skills.

· You have the ability to learn concepts and technical details of products.

·  You have the ability to work with a moderate level of technical supervision, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities.

· You have demonstrated competency in CAD drafting (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inventor).

· You are willing to travel as needed (<20%)

· You have an acceptable understanding of the installation requirements for substation equipment, structures or protective relays of different types and functions.

Pay Range Data

The salary range for this position is Designer I $25.43 - $38.22, Designer II $28.80 - $43.22, or Designer III $32.16 - $50.24. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
