Position Summary

Review, recommend, and improve kubernetes infrastructure and configuration to ensure highly operational infrastructure.

Role and Responsibilities

Duties:               Review, recommend, and improve kubernetes infrastructure and configuration to ensure highly operational infrastructure. Will need to troubleshoot and resolve issues with kubeDNS, overlay networks, kubernetes API server and general pod issues.  Own full deployment (CI/CD) stack across Jenkins, container registry, kubernetes, and container/pod operations, plan and auto-scale pod infrastructure to handle product releases and holiday season workloads.  Upgrade operating systems and applications kubernetes and postgres applications. Upgrades need to be completed within given schedules to meet business and security requirements.  Utilize Terraform, implement infrastructure as code to automate cloud infrastructure deployments for networking, compute and storge resources. Prepare technical design documents for review and feedback sessions with DevOps and architecture teams. Technical design solutions must include details for resiliency and performance in addition to fulfilling the basic functional requirements.  Participate in on call schedule and respond to infrastructure and application alerts during business ad non-business hours.  Monitor and proactively resolve environmental issues during on call rotations for cloud, operating system or applications issues. Deploy technical changes into production environments with no customer impact.   Monitor ticket queues and resolve and update tickets within SLA.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field and eight (8) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as Engineer III, Software Process Engineering or related occupation requiring software development in the area of  telecommunication products.   Of the 8 years of experience at least 5 years must have included:

Experience as DevOps professional with fundamental working knowledge of Linux and TCP/IP networking; Deploying infrastructure and supporting 24x7 production environment; Deploying, configuring and maintaining Linux flavor systems in the cloud; Experience with kubernetes, docker, jenkins deployments and operations for containerized micro services at an enterprise scale; Configuring and utilizing monitoring and alerting tools to detect issues and optimize systems; Engineering and operational experience with AWS including EC2, S3, terraform, networking/VPCs; and Experience with high availability & disaster recovery implementation and testing.

Salary:  $167,265.00 - $215,000/year
