Senior Software Engineer, DataScale®

Accelerating ML computation demands the perfect balance between computation, memory and communication. The Sambanova RDU processor exposes hardware as a sea of compute and memory units that are seamlessly reconfigurable by our dataflow compiler to achieve the perfect balance that maximizes a network’s performance. Super-optimization of commonly used operators to maximize performance is a cross-stack HW/SW co-design challenge which requires deep understanding of pipelined hardware, compiler decision making, and ML application needs. 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software engineer with broad system software knowledge, with some knowledge of the hardware-software interface, and the desire and growth mindset to build on their core competence and learn new disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement profiling and tuning mechanisms for our DataScale components. 
• Analyze performance bottlenecks and recommend optimizations
• Test for function and performance with ML or HPC applications, working across hardware, compiler and runtime layers.
• Develop broad understanding of the HW architecture and dataflow compiler
• Develop complementary skills to what you already know.
  

Skills and Qualifications

• 10+ years of industry work experience (new or recent college graduates should apply to one of our University jobs)
• Knowledge of computer architecture, pipelining and hardware performance
• Familiarity with distributed memory and compute systems
• Proficient in C++, Python, JSON, machine learning (ML)
• Experience analyzing performance with CPU and/or GPU profilers
• Ability to debug functional and performance problems, using debuggers, compiler logs and silicon performance indicators
