MuleSoft is looking for a principal architect to lead the architecture strategy in continuing to build the best in class Integration and API platform. Our vision is to enable all knowledge workers to design and build APIs and Integrations at lightning speed that run easily on our iPaaS, public cloud, and on-premises.

You are an experienced technical leader with deep domain knowledge in distributed systems, and building platform-as-a-service offerings. You have a strong understanding of Integration, Automation and Full Life Cycle API Management. You thrive when leading a team that collaborates as a community and is distributed across the globe.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for building and overseeing Mulesoft architecture strategy

  • Partner with product & engineering organization, customers and internal stakeholders to develop and drive MuleSoft architecture strategy that supports the objectives of the business

  • Serve as the primary steward and key voice of the architecture strategy, communicating decisions and tradeoffs to internal and external stakeholders

  • Engage with customers as needed to validate architecture decisions and understand customer-based architecture requirements

  • Partner with Support, Sales Engineering, and Customer Success in organizational enablement around our platform and product technologies

• Mulesoft Technologies Evangelist

  • Evangelise API-led approach of connecting applications, data and devices

  • Represent Mulesoft and its technologies with internal stakeholders, customers and partners

• Be a R&D leader

  • Lead the implementation of the architecture strategy, partnering with your architecture team, senior technical leaders, as well as engineering teams to translate architecture into design.

• Hire, inspire, and develop the Mulesoft architecture team into a best-in-class organization

• Promote technical best practices

  • Lead the development and implementation of the architecture governance model/framework (e.g. architecture review board, reference architecture(s), standards/policies)

  • Coordinates architecture decisions across all architects at Mulesoft

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or Engineering

• At least ten (15) years of experience in platform architecture (SaaS, PaaS) with at least three (3) years of experience in a similar leadership role

• Demonstrable experience and interest in architecting complex and scalable platform; expert level knowledge of relevant architecture/ design principles and patterns

• Demonstrable experience delivering cloud-native capabilities on AWS; experience with integrations, automations and API management is a significant plus

• Proven experience and strong desire to lead, with experience leading cross functional architecture teams

• Advanced relationship management and communication skills, including partnering and consulting with senior leaders/C-level roles

• Strong skills in critical thinking, decision making, problem solving, and attention to detail

Preferred Requirements:

• Strong understanding of Integrations, Automations and Full Life Cycle API Management

• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and environments (public/private) and ability to lead the team through technical challenges in implementation

• Strong and broad working knowledge of the state of the art in cloud computing infrastructure including: IaaS, PaaS, containers, analytics, data center deployments, and others

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $270,000 to $432,700.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $295,600 to $472,900.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
