Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure

Rupa makes lab testing simple. We turn an archaic 15 hour-a-week process into a delightful 15 min task for doctors, nurses, and even acupuncturists who order order lab testing for their patients.

Lab testing is the key to a more personalized and holistic approach to medicine, and Rupa is paving the way with critical infrastructure for this next generation of healthcare. Through Rupa, practitioners can order testing not available through the average hospital, such as DNA testing, microbiome testing, advanced fertility and hormone testing, and more.

This comprehensive and personalized approach to healthcare is the missing piece for the millions of people suffering from complex, chronic health conditions. You'll be joining the Engineering team at Rupa as one of the first infrastructure engineers! We're a close-knit, hardworking team and that means we are looking for talented engineers that can take ownership of large parts of our infrastructure.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for:

- Developing infrastructure and tooling that allows our team to ship software that matters to our customers.

- Scaling application infrastructure to handle tens of thousands of requests per minute using pragmatic approaches.

- Improving engineering velocity by implementing best practices and frameworks. Improve coding efficiency and quality.

- Being a steward of reliability, scalability and performance. Work with engineers on our team to create a solid foundation that serves our customers.

- Mentoring junior engineers.

- Interviewing and evaluating new team members as we grow our engineering team.

As an early infrastructure engineer, you'll be able to grow as a leader and define the technical direction for our infrastructure. You'll work closely with our engineering and product leaders to develop critical path tooling and infrastructure that is responsible for delivering our service to our customers.

We’ve been growing like crazy over the past year, with exponential month-over-month growth. But a company is only as good as its people, and so we’re looking for an amazing analytics engineer who can join us on this fast-paced journey.

- You have 4+ years of professional software development experience. Preferably in dynamic, fast moving companies and teams.

- You have experience with scaling and shipping complex distributed services in AWS or equivalent using infrastructure as code.

- You're an expert in building infrastructure and tools that make it simple to develop and run code.

- You make pragmatic technology choices. You don't build science projects.

- You care deeply about your work and are aware of how your attitude affects those around you.

- You are humble enough to use frameworks and technologies that aren't your favorite but won't have a negative impact.

- You focus on clear and concise communication. You know this is the most important part of your job as an engineer.
