Job Description

The Platform R&D team is looking for a multidisciplinary engineer to help us will all aspects of developing new, cutting-edge data platforms. Our team owns infrastructure, tools, platform applications, and support for 70+ users in our AdTech and nCountR business lines. Our new platforms focus on reactive and streaming capabilities in a lakehouse-style architecture on a hybrid estate. We need a new team member to help in all phases of platform development, but especially in:

  • deploying, evangelizing, and scaling our tools and stacks

  • discovering and converting existing applications

  • giving and acting on feedback regarding our tools

  • experimenting with new configurations and tools

  • developing and documenting new application architectures.

In addition, this role will:

  • Design and build data platforms: collaborate inline and in person with enterprise architects, software engineering, IT engineers, and product owners.

  • Support deployment and operations: develop controls and practices for publishing tools and configurations; support infrastructure in a future 24/7 on-call rotation if needed.

  • Design and build workflows: build and scale applications on our new platform as needed; help our users redesign their existing applications to target our new technologies; interact with and support our users to aid in the transition to our new technologies

Qualifications

The work requires:

  • Bachelors degree in a technical area such as Computer Science and Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Business Analysis, etc.

  • 5+ years of relevant years of experience working in backend data processing and management

    • Experience with streaming platforms and big data are required

    • Experience with both on-prem and cloud estates is preferred

    • Any IoT exposure is also a plus

  • Excellent oral, written, and sketching communication skills to use regularly on a diverse group of stakeholders

  • Track record of conceiving, designing, and building innovative solutions for your team and business

We use these technologies and processes:

  • 5+ years of experience with one of more of the common languages in this space: Java, scala, python

  • 2+ years of experience with streaming data platforms, e.g. Kafka, CDC, or other equivalents

  • 2+ years of experience with data frame programming, e.g. MapReduce, Pandas, Spark, Flink

  • Streaming architectures and solutions

  • Big data stacks, e..g Hadoop or similar

  • Orchestration frameworks and IaaS , e.g. YARN, Openstack, or equivalents

  • Cloud infrastructure and data platforms, e.g. AWS, Snowflake or equivalents

  • DevOps Practices, e.g. Gitlab, Jenkins, Rundeck, ansible or euqivalents

  • Collaboration tools, e..g Jira, Confluence, google docs

  • Security, compliance, and governance practices

Additional Information

The national pay range for this role is $150,000 - $170,000 per year.  The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee.  The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location.

In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
