As a Senior Software Engineer for Data Access on our database platform team, you will have an immediate impact on the primary systems powering the experiences of our 150M+ monthly active users. You will have primary responsibility in building the massive system making performant data storage easily available to all engineering teams at Roblox. If you enjoy working on software alongside experienced and passionate engineers, you will be right at home on our growing database platform team.

 

You will

  • Develop our core data systems handling over 50M requests per second at busy times
  • Build globally distributed, highly reliable systems using Rust and C#
  • Be a gatekeeper for a high code quality bar, architectural designs vs. long-term approaches
  • Self-organize your work and take ownership of projects throughout their full lifecycles
  • Work to be an inspiration to the people around you and to be inspired by the people you will work with


You have

  • Experienced: you have 4+ years of experience working on distributed systems
  • Knowledgeable: you are well versed with database fundamentals (SQL, NoSQL)
  • Adaptability: you shift focus and enjoy working outside your comfort zone
  • Responsible: you build systems that work and keep on working reliably. You are thorough in your designs, rigorous in handling potential failure cases and in automated testing.
  • Curious: you want to learn about technology developments

 

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.  All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range
$218,540—$283,780 USD
