Together, we are building products and services that help create a financial system everyone can participate in.

As we continue to build...

We’re seeking curious thinkers looking to co-author the next chapters of our story. Joining now means helping shape our vision, structures and systems; playing a key-role as we launch into our ambitious future.

About the Team

This position will ideally be seated in New York City, NY, Menlo Park, CA, or Seattle, WA

Robinhood is looking for a privacy-passionate Technical Program Manager to join the Privacy Engineering team.

The Privacy Engineering team is a core pillar of Security & Privacy and works with teams across Robinhood to ensure our products and services protect user privacy by designing architectures, tools, and features that make Robinhood’s data collection transparent, and gives users control over their data throughout the data lifecycle.

You will serve as a technical advocate for our environment, working closely with the Software Engineers and Engineering Manager to establish designs, track projects, and quantify results for the team at Robinhood. You will not only support industry-vetted privacy solutions but become a part of driving a vision and innovative ideas to implementation as the company evolves and grows.

Your work will ensure privacy is foundational in everything we do at Robinhood. You will help drive our privacy by design efforts and be the voice of the customer in our privacy-facing features, ensuring we’re meeting our regulatory requirements but also pushing beyond to do the right thing for our users.

What you'll do day-to-day:

  • Support the technical environment that allows us to deliver privacy-centric solutions to our internal and external stakeholders. This includes discovery and documentation of the ways that data is collected, processed, and stored across our products and infrastructure to ensure our data collection and usage practices are transparent, protect user privacy, and mitigate risk
  • Champion our privacy engineering tools and services, understanding our principles and requirements, and the associated technical and operational work required
  • Drive alignment and execution of cross functional security initiatives
  • Prioritize, coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to work against aggressive schedules and shifting priorities
  • Facilitate privacy engineering reviews with engineering, product teams, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with broad range of technical and non-technical teams, including Engineering, Product, Customer Experience, Compliance, and Legal
  • Communicate our privacy engineering tools and services both internally and externally

Some things we consider critical for this role:

  • 4+ years of work experience in engineering, privacy, or security programs
  • Experience building relationships and influencing stakeholders and engineers
  • Process design and process improvement experience
  • Experience in security with one of the following security principles or technologies: security by design, data protection, authentication, identity and access management
  • Experience with concepts and practices such as threat modeling, data anonymization and classification, auditing access to data, and review of requests for data access

Bonus points:

  • Experience in privacy with one of the following privacy principles or technologies: privacy by design, user data protection, GDPR, CCPA, data inventory, DLP, encryption anonymization, or privacy impact assessments
  • IAPP privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CIPT)
  • Project management certifications (e.g., PMP)
  • B.S. or M.S. Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Finance and portfolio trading
