Manager, Application Engineering

Rise Interactive (http://www.riseinteractive.com), a rapidly growing full-service interactive advertising agency, is looking to hire a Manager of Application Engineering to report to the Senior Director of Engineering and Quality Assurance.  We seek a detail-oriented, highly motivated leader excited about growing an Innovation department and contributing professionally to an entrepreneurial company with an expanding Fortune 500 client base.

SUMMARY AND SCOPE

The Manager of Application Engineering will report to the Senior Director of Engineering and Quality Assurance. This person will manage all aspects of the software engineering capabilities for Rise Interactive’s Connex platform portal.  You will be hands-on and relish the opportunity to contribute to the production code base as a means of mentoring others and gaining your team's trust as a credible software engineer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead software delivery for the next-generation Rise Connex platform
• Recruit and manage a world-class software engineering team
• Oversee product development from concept to release and ongoing maintenance/support
• Provide technical direction, guidance, and hands-on management to team members
• Ensure the technical infrastructure strategy, configuration, and management for Rise products is fast, resilient, and scalable
• Establish and evolve consistent technology frameworks, platforms, standards, and processes that enable developers to implement compelling software
• Oversee the creation of team deliverables (including architecture and technical design documentation, code, unit tests, and release plans)
• Collaborate with product managers, scrum masters, project managers, engineers, testers, and designers throughout the product life cycle
• Contribute strategically and tactically to evolving market-driven, user-centric products, and product marketing efforts to ensure our employees, partners, and customers remain aware of the value proposition
• Lead technology research, selection, and proof of concept processes
• Lead regular design reviews and other team-wide design efforts
• Stay abreast of new and innovative trends in software development on the web and data software product space

QUALIFICATIONS

• Several years of leadership experience in software architecture, design, and development
• Proven experience building responsive web applications, Service-oriented architecture-style business/technology services, REST APIs, standard authorization and authentication models, a big plus if experienced in building analytics and data visualization-centric applications.
• Cannot contemplate software delivery without Source Control, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment tools and has the know-how to put this into effect
• Strong hands-on development experience with .NET stack and well-known JavaScript frameworks, but especially C#, .NET Core, Web APIs, React, D3.
• Strong SQL skills, experience creating or updating stored procedures 
• Practical knowledge working with cloud infrastructure: AWS or Microsoft Azure with web and API configurations 
• Experience integrating with Google Analytics, AdWords and DoubleClick, Bing AdCenter and Webmaster tools, Adobe Analytics, and other web or display analytics engines desirable
• Strong experience as a software architect of online B2B portals and SaaS software
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Passion for continuous learning in data processing, data analytics, and data discovery technologies
• Ability to see the big picture while focused on short-term objectives
• Strong collaborator with proven ability to effectively rally and inspire engineers equally
• Experience developing applications that support multiple device types and contexts (desktop, mobile, accessories) a plus
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
• Experience in high-volume and high-availability transactional systems
• Tenacity and perseverance as core personal characteristics
