Senior Security Engineer - Detection and Response

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced Detection and Response Engineer to join our DART team who is excited about building and scaling a global IR capability. The DART team is part of the CISO organization that protects the Rippling Production and Corporate Environments. You will work cross-functionally, collaborating with the other Security and Engineering teams to build the Detection and Response controls Rippling needs to protect our customer’s data.

Rippling is in growth mode and will be running fast to evolve our Security Incident Response Program. It’s an exciting time to join our security team, and this role will be empowered to quickly drive change and build new capabilities.

You will: 

• Be the technical lead working on transforming our detection and response architecture 
• Monitor Rippling for security events and drive the response to company-wide Security Incidents
• Continually improve all our IR processes including facilitating post-incident briefings to drive discussions and learnings in order to prevent repeat incidents
• Operate and build the tools and infrastructure that will detect and contain security threats
• Lead with automation to scale our IR process
• Be a technical lead and mentor other Security Engineers

You have:

• 5+ years of experience in Security Engineering, with significant experience working in Detection and Response
• Experience managing the response to Security Incidents, including crisis management and managing senior internal and external stakeholders during security incidents
• An effective communication style that builds connections across the company, with an ability to facilitate healthy discussions during potentially stressful incidents 
• A passion for cybersecurity, particularly Security Operations and IR
• Knowledge of attacker methodologies and techniques
• Strong bias for ownership and responsibility with a high-security bar
• Experience with modern SOC-less tools and data pipelines, e.g., Panther Labs, Snowflake, and other SOAR tooling
• Proficiency in Python and/or Golang
• Comfort working with AWS and other cloud tools
• Pragmatism and a passion for SaaS products and start-up culture

Additional Information

This role will receive a competitive salary + benefits + equity. The salary for US-based employees located in the below markets may expect offers in the below ranges for this role.

New York City: $189,000 - $258,000/year 

Colorado: $160,000 - $220,000/year

A variety of factors are considered when determining someone’s compensation–including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Final offer amounts may vary from the amounts listed above based on these considerations.
