We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our R&D center in Sofia and eventually take a lead in growing a team. The position is to be part of a Development team responsible for Via’s  production quality, cutting-edge server software and scalable, robust infrastructure to deliver Via's ride sharing service.  

This role has the potential to grow into a leadership position.

What You’ll Do:

  • Implementing the components that bind complex real-time rider management, mass scale user communication into a complete, mission critical service.
  • Potentially take ownership over a part of the team’s product
  • Defining and implementing effective cloud infrastructure scaling solutions based on best-in-class standard tools.
  • Designing and implementing POCs and production ready sub-systems to handle customer service, advanced analytics , operational shift management and more.

Who You Are:

  • minimum of 5 years of backend programming experience,2+ years as a Python developer (hands-on).
  • Familiar with cloud-based deployment (AWS or other platforms)
  • Have formal or informal lead, hiring, training or mentorship experience is a plus
  • Culture keeper- embrace challenges and build a positive community
  • An expert in balancing the trade-offs between technical and product priorities
  • You are pragmatic, you can break down a complex problem into simple executable and elegant chunks
  • Not afraid of multi tasking between many programming languages, each suitable for different tasks
  • Self-learner, independent, and proactive
  • Team Player, great communication and collaboration skills 
  • BSc. Computer Science or similar.
