Staff Infrastructure Security Engineer

About the Role:

The Infrastructure Security team works closely with our Seattle-based Application Security team in securing the systems that underly our family of products and services. You will report to the KRK Security Team manager, and work with the Director of Product Security based in North America. Our security program is organized along the NIST CSF and we are increasing our investments in the security of our core systems. You will develop new methods to govern and secure our AWS, EKS, K8s, Istio production environment that supports millions of transactions. You will transcend legacy approaches and redefine best in class infrastructure!

You Will:

• You will engage with Product Architects to review their design for new infrastructure and changes to existing ones.

• Reduce security risks to our customers and ensure long-term customer peace of mind

• Support security assessments, risk modeling, and design and code reviews by training Security Owners (developers on teams outside security)

• Create and evolve security tooling to secure our cloud infrastructure and development environments

• Use your technical experience and leadership to grow engineers.

• Encourage a culture of security and customer privacy at Remitly

You Have:

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; or equivalent experience

• 8+ years of engineering experience in a team environment

• 4+ years of experience in security or infrastructure teams

• Enjoy mentoring others on security and infrastructure topics

• Experience with cloud services like AWS

• Experience securing K8s infrastructure

• In-depth understanding of the modern security principles

• Familiarity with at least one of OWASP Top 10, NIST CSF, ISO 27k1 or similar frameworks
