Senior Controls Engineer, Project Management

The Senior Controls Engineer (Project Management) role will be responsible for the design and build of the controls systems supporting large capital projects.  They will own the controls from design, planning, procurement, programming, installation and commissioning.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design and implement in-house reliable automation systems to meet the needs of the business. Activities include but are not limited to electrical panel design, device selection, flow and pin charts, functional specifications, programming, and commissioning.
  • Ownership of control systems design including leading cross functional team sessions to arrive at design decisions.
  • Serving as Design team subject matter expert in all thing’s automation, electrical and networking.
  • Co-design P&ID’s with process engineers to insure all instrumentation to support robust PID control loops.
  • Provide maintenance break/fix support for automation and electrical related issues.
  • Administer and maintain plant controls systems including databases, SCADA, HMI, PLC, vision, motion control, robotics and OT networking.
  • Working with cross functional teams to design and implement large capital projects.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience working in an automated manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient working with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, and Inductive Automation’s Ignition.
  • Prior experience working with external vendors (engineer firms, panel shops and equipment suppliers).
  • Strong process and mechanical understanding, with previous experience working with chemical process equipment (filter presses, control valves, heat exchanger, centrifuges and reactors).
  • Strong with electrical troubleshooting and capable of terminating control wiring.
  • Basic understanding of Networking and fieldbus systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in a project team environment serving as a lead engineer.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
