As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll develop the technical and business foundation to turn your passion for technology into real-world solutions. You’ll architect and implement web applications using cutting edge technology solutions. You’ll drive the end-to-end experience, from the front-end to the backend systems running in the cloud. You'll also be a leader on a team who works together to explore new boundaries and test new technologies. We maintain a tight loop between development, feedback, and deployment, which allows us to build world-class solutions to our business, marketing, and data quandaries.

RV EDU is proudly headquartered in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and is dedicated to cultivating local talent and driving economic development on the island. While many of our roles are located in Puerto Rico, some are also located at RV’s main campus south of Charlotte, NC, or are remote-based.

This role requires a hybrid schedule and will be based out of our South Charlotte area office with in-office Monday-Thursday and fully remote work on Fridays each week.

What You'll Do

• Autonomously design scalable, maintainable, secure, and reusable solutions
• Define approach for codebase and design strategic solutions
• Demonstrate consistent performance when working across an entire system, product, or technology solution
• Determine estimation, work breakdown, scoping, design, implementation for mid-to-large products, and complex multi-month deliverables with insightful and strategic approaches
• Build systems and continuous delivery pipelines
• Develop team through indirect mentorship

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrate proficiency in multiple languages, technical expertise in at least one, and deep and broad domain knowledge
• Understand when and how to leverage different web service and software architecture approaches
• Drive technical progress by proposing effective, well-architected data models and schemas
• Minimize cost implications and demonstrate business acumen when making technical decisions
• Strategically plan and deliver end-to-end technology solutions
• Provide technical guidance to business partner stakeholders to help drive technical decisions

Even Better:

• Experience with Typescript, NextJS, React
• Working knowledge of solutions architecture on modern cloud platforms – we use AWS, but in-depth experience with other platforms is welcome
• Experience with a variety of API paradigms such as REST, GraphQL, Webhooks, Websockets, Event-driven architectures
• Deep knowledge of databases, data modeling, query optimization, and caching
• Deep knowledge of Test Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)

• Self-motivated and creative problem-solver who loves a challenge 
• Curious and strives to be great to work with

Compensation

• Compensation Range: $100,000-$195,000*
  *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience
