Lead UI Engineer

We're looking for a Lead UI Engineer to help define and own the future of UI technology for Rec Room. In this role, you will lead the charge in researching the newest technologies, architecting UI systems that are extensible and scalable, and defining UI best practices for the studio. You will get to collaborate with a talented and ambitious team of creatives and engineers while having fun developing exciting new gameplay experiences that impact millions of users! 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL: 

• Design and architect UI systems and frameworks
• Design and implement UI screens and client-side UI Logic
• Advise UI Developers on best practices and architecture
• Collaborate with the Lead UI Designer to set UI standards for Rec Room
• Work closely with UX Designers to prototype and iterate on intuitive and delightful interactions across a wide variety of input devices (touch, VR, game controller, keyboard/mouse)
• Design and implement modifications, extensions, and optimizations to our existing UI framework
• Provide suggestions and feedback on proposed UI designs and flows
• Source, filter, and implement player feedback directly from Rec Room’s community
• Work autonomously and iteratively to improve the player experience on various platforms
• Collaborate with other teams and disciplines across all phases of development

WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE FOLLOWING:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of professional experience as a UI Engineer or a similar role
• Experience working with Unity’s built-in UI system
• Passion for UX design, game feel, and high-quality player feedback
• Excellent cross-discipline communication skills 
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, autonomous, and ambiguous environment
• A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE: 

• Experience with interaction and UX design on mobile, console, and/or VR platforms.
• Experience working with localization and internationalization systems
• Experience profiling and optimizing runtime gameplay code
• Experience with analytics gathering and A/B testing

COMPANY INFO TO KNOW: 

The base pay range for this position is $160,000-210,000 per year; however, the base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, location, skills, and experience. Stock options and, in some cases, a sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package.
