Senior Data Engineer

What you will do:

• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture, 

• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements. 

• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability. 

Who you are:

• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases. 

• Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets. 

• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement. 

• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets. 

• Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management. 

• Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores. 

• Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka. 

• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, MSSQL and Cassandra. 

• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Airflow, NiFi, Luigi. 

• Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift 

• Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming. 

• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, Scala, Go. 

• Experienced in taking ownership of tasks, commitments, quality, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement in an Agile/Scrum environment. 

• Self-motivated and detail-oriented team player with a desire to work on a team and mentor team members when necessary. 

• Able to efficiently break down problems and leverage business resources to establish a clear path toward customer value despite the presence of ambiguity. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to communicate intent to other developers through code. 

• A solid foundation in software engineering – bachelor’s / master’s degree with 4+ years of experience. 

• Provide outstanding support, including on-call support when necessary. 

• Experience with any of the following is a plus: 

• Building CI pipelines  Azure, AWS or other cloud platforms 

• Container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
