Position Overview

As the lead Analytics Sales Engineer, you would be responsible for being the product and subject matter expert in Piano Analytics within the Americas sales organization. Your primary function will be to win the product and technical components of Piano Analytics sales opportunities. Secondarily, you will help spread your knowledge of digital analytics internally by contributing to our internal training programs.


To be successful in this role, you will need to possess and demonstrate:

  • Product expertise. Knowing how our software helps our clients accomplish their business goals; being able to demonstrate the features and functionality that address our client’s use cases; comfortable and confident about why these features are important to our clients.
  • Presentation and communication skills. Being able to provide product, technical, and integration expertise in a way that removes confusion, doubt, or uncertainty. Being able to create clear and concise documentation of various formats that address the questions and specific technical concerns of our clients.
  • Education. Improving the knowledge of the Sales and Pre-Sales team by holding regular education sessions, creating documentation of various formats that addresses frequently asked questions or specific topics of interest, and sharing lessons learned from client sales opportunities.
  • Documentation skills. Being able to document how our clients intend to use our software and what systems the software will need to integrate with during the implementation process. Maintaining a library of documentation that can be leveraged by others in the sales organization and at handoff.
  • Technical expertise. Answering detailed questions about how our software is implemented and integrated; explaining how to work with various APIs; demonstrating how to get data in and out of the platform; and leading discussions about hosting and scalability.


    What You Have

    • Hands on experience with Google Analytics and / or Adobe Analytics
    • At least 2 years in a sales engineering role, ideally in web analytics or business intelligence; equivalent experience as a technical consultant or implementation engineer would also be considered
    • Excellent communicator – both verbal and written
    • Passionate about building strong, trusted relationships with our sales team, our client services team, and our prospects and clients.
    • Aptitude to learn new technologies quickly
    • Willingness to travel as needed, primarily within North America
    • Experience with media or publishing a plus
    • New York City applicants considered in addition to Philadelphia
