Software Engineer

A person with the hands on experience in software development in core Java. An experience of 2 to 5 years is desired. Candidate should have good coding & designing skills. Should be able to handle projects independently with minimum guidance.

This position is in Risk Engineering team. Our solutions need to scale across millions of interactions, working with petabytes plus data, integrating with various other APIs in real time and yet providing high availability and configurability to the business. To achieve this we are always looking at advances in technology and science and tying those back to business needs.

Meet our team
We own Risk Decision platform which is used to build decision based services and currently used by 60+ teams in Paypal across risk , compliance , limits , etc  Multiple enhancements are done to add new features, add client requested features to improve performance, new functionalities and client pull requests for new business requirements are reviewed and released every week for consumption. Supporting client queries and helping them throughout the lifecycle of the product from platform point of view.

You will be responsible for working with a team of engineers in design, development, test, and deployment of a range of products. A successful candidate will have a strong technical ability, excellent execution skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Your day to day

• Help with feature developments, releases, reviews, supporting client queries, debugging and fixing issues related to java decision services across platform, decision engine and gateway services.
• Core JAVA, spring, Maven, GIT, debugging, rule engine concepts, release engineering, backend distributed system and management, problem solving, anaytical , communication,  etc

Responsibilities

• Work within a team of highly talented engineers, product and architect to design and develop highly scalable systems
• Being involved in design meetings to propose, discuss and refine new features and functionality.
• Write tests for the existing and newly created code to maintain compatibility
• Maintain and enhance the existing architectural documentations and create the new one as needed
• Participate in code and design reviews
• Provide suggestions for continuous improvements as necessary.

Required Skills

• 2 to 5 years industry experience.
• Experience in developing RESTful endpoints or other SOA endpoints.
• Experience in developing backend services in Java, Spring, Hibernate.
• Demonstrable programming abilities in Java – other languages like C++, Python.
• Understanding of Data Structures, algorithmic techniques, design patterns and best coding practices.
• Curiosity about how things work and the behavior of finding the answers. Flexible and adapting the changing circumstances, tenacious.
• Expertise on Relational databases & NoSQL databases.
• Experience with development of scalable and distributed Java services.
• Should be passionate and  take pride in building systems that are used by millions of users every day.
• Should have good communication skills
