PayPal Identity Platform team is at the forefront of changing the fabric of modern authentication by delivering a modern, secure, extensible authentication platform which allows PayPal users to securely authenticate to any application, using any authentication method and on any device. This platform processes millions of login requests and billions of authorization requests each day, enabling PayPal and its partners to rapidly innovate on new payment scenarios and enable new experiences. In particular, we are augmenting the team with highly skilled and enthusiastic engineers to assist with unlocking potential for our adjacencies using the power of a single INC level identity. As an Identity Engineer in our development team, you will be responsible for the design, development and quality delivery of the platform web services and infrastructure As an Identity Experience mobile software engineer in Android , you'll contribute to PayPal mobile apps and particularly to the Identity Native SDK. The successful candidate will work closely with the entire product development team during all phases software development and lifecycle.. You will work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation and experimentation are a given. As an Identity Engineer in our development team, you will be responsible for the design, development and quality delivery of the platform web services and infrastructure.

Your way to impact

  • You will enhance and build features and products that will directly impact the user experience of PayPal users, the overall perception of the PayPal brand, and the company’s bottom line
  • Work with other engineers, architects, product management, QA and operations teams to develop innovative solutions
  • Develop and communicate technical processes, standards, and best practices to the team 

Your day to day

  • Work within a mission team (a cross-functional team focused on a specific, well-defined mission) on a given set of features and services
  • Architect, design, write, review, and test code in a collaborative environment
  • Design, build, and maintain PayPal's Identity Native SDK for Android
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of all of PayPal's Identity Native SDK for Android
  • Build monitoring for all your applications and tasks to ensure their reliability and health
  • Leverage your peers as multipliers for your skills to create excellent products at PayPal
  • Work closely with a product manager for your mission team on product requirements and translating those requirements to technical solutions

What do you need to bring-

  • You have 6 to 10 years professional full time experience developing Android applications
  • You have built and delivered one or more apps to the Google Play Store. You have experience using Java and/or Kotlin
  • You have experience using modern Android architectural components and lifecycle management: MVVM, View Model, Live Data, Data Binding, Room Experience with creating custom components
  • Experience with complex or dynamic layouts in Android Experience with localization and internationalization. 
  • You are familiar with Git and GitHub You know how to do offline storage, threading, or performance tuning in an Android app
  • You have interfaced with GraphQL or REST APIs from an Android app You know how to use cloud message APIs and push notifications (through Firebase or similar)
  • You know it's important to monitor your production systems
  • Lint and test all your code or know you should, are willing to deploy your systems to production and troubleshoot them if they fail
  • You know about continuous integration systems like (we use Jenkins) You have B.S. or equivalent degree in Computer Science or related experience.
